The initial session is called a psychiatric evaluation (psych eval) and it’s where we get into your life story. This initial session with Dr. Datta is 75-90 minutes. There is a 60 min shorter version of the initial session. Regarding the follow up sessions; there’s a 45 min long version and a 30 min short version. This is not your 10-15 minutes wellness checks. This is an in depth character and personality analysis. The duration gives you time to talk about what’s happening now as well as issues of the past, so that the doctor can formulate the course of action best suited to you. This allows for a deep conversation where we dive into medication management (when needed), psychotherapy, meditation practices, relationship therapy and addiction treatment (when needed).

There is a 48 hour cancellation and rescheduling policy. No-shows are billed. This is a common rule for all out-of-network doctors in the United States. Payments can be taken care of electronically via intuit quickbooks (QBO). Patients receive an invoice/bill from intuit quickbooks (QBO) to their email address. This is a specialized practice and NOT a walk-in clinic where the patients sometimes don’t show up and think they’re not going to be billed.

Please note, Dr. Datta is not an emergency doctor. This is in regards to patients who initially call with emergency situations. Dr. Datta is an outpatient office psychiatrist. Active patients have more questions than just having side effect of their medication. Dr. Datta always understands the emotional and unconscious implications to even a medication that’s given for depression/anxiety.

You can ask a psychiatrist any question about your personality, your emotions, your journey in life, your relationships, all sorts of these types of things. However, every psychiatrist may have a different philosophy of practice.  How long does it take for any human being to understand another? It can take time sometimes. However, this is dependent on how open the potential patient is to talking about their issues. It’s also dependent on the skill level of the psychiatrist or therapist. This is dependent on how much of an unconscious vision the provider has. The unconscious vision is the ability of a psychiatrist or therapist to see both the conscious and unconscious minds of the patient and to provide feedback in an objective way that is free of bias. Arnab Datta, MD, is a psychiatrist who created this practice to deliver this psychological and emotional synopsis to the patient as soon as possible.

Addiction is defined as one pursuing (or being unable to cut down) harmful behavior and/or substance abuse despite the risks and setbacks it has caused in their life. Addiction may be behavioral or substance abuse-related. It follows the same pathways in the brain; some addictions are more dangerous than others.

Usually, it’s when you need to take medication for your mental health issues. I know this sounds pretty negative, but that’s where the negative stigma of seeing a psychiatrist comes from. Let me share inside information with you about the mental health field. Psychiatrists during our residency are taught a variety of psychotherapies, and we also seek additional education and training to become experts in certain psychotherapies. Psychiatrists generally prescribe medication, but each psychiatrist is different in what their focus and concentration are. Certain hospital or clinic administrations put psychiatrists in the position of seeing patients for 15 minutes only for medication management. That’s not what Dr. Datta does here

You don’t need to have a psychiatric or psychological problem to see Dr. Datta. Let’s do away with that negative stigma once and for all. A psychiatrist is a medical doctor who has completed medical school or residency and has the ability or license to prescribe medications. A psychologist can do a variety of talk therapies. Dr. Datta does both.

There’s no need to see a separate psychopharmacologist for medication, a separate psychotherapist for talk therapy, for couples therapy, or for meditation or EMDR exercises. Dr. Datta created this practice to provide you with a comprehensive, full picture of what’s going on with you psychologically, emotionally, and historically. Dr. Datta founded this practice to do this because he noticed that individuals are going to different doctors for only one of a couple pieces of the puzzle. Dr. Datta tries to see the entire puzzle for you, so you can come to one person.

Whether you need objective feedback about which direction you or your partner are going in your life, Whether you have lost your sense of self or your identity and need objective feedback about who you are (even the best of us lose this sense from time to time because life can be pretty challenging), Dr. Datta can help you with these issues. This is a customized one-on-one experience with Dr. Datta. You have a highly trained, objective listener and confidant in your corner who can give you customized feedback within a short amount of time.
